Welcome to the Market Deeping Model Railway Club.

Meeting nights are normally Mondays at 7:30 p.m. except after Bank Holidays when we meet on Tuesdays at the same time.

We are currently meeting on Zoom but we are also working very hard to get our new club room open for business! Situated in Essendine Lincolnshire, it is being painted and fitted out as a matter of some urgency in order that we can all move in and start 'proper' meetings again. Please see our News Page for the latest information.

All members: please contact Steve Rouse (via This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. if need be) to volunteer.

The Club was founded in 1976, the same year as Concorde first flew. We started out in Market Deeping, just north of Peterborough and retained that name when we moved in 2003 to  Obthorpe a small village near Bourne.  We now have new premises in Essendine..

We meet most Monday nights and with layouts in O, EM, OO and N, we cater for a wide range of interests in the hobby. From those who wish to run in their existing stock on our test track, to those who want to build layouts, kits, scratch build models for exhibition or just talk! If you have an interest in model railways then this is the ideal club for you - from complete beginner to expert. We have a number of layouts under construction. However, our main focus at present is in preparing for our change of premises and with that and the impact of the Corona virus, the main modelling focus is in members own homes.

Annual Show

We also organise at least one show every year, our main one is normally held in Stamford at Stamford Welland Academy to whom we are most grateful. Sadly, our show in 2019 was vandalised and in 2020 and 2021, cancelled due to the Covid 19 outbreak. Instead, we produced a Virtual Show in 2020 which can be viewed here or click the link.https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hWJDrvDhN_c

Dates proposed for our 2022 exhibiion are 14th and 15th May 2022.

We have great fun taking our layouts to exhibitions and if you join us, you can join in the fun too - a weekend away playing trains - what more could you ask for!
If you are organising an exhibition and wish to book a layout, please contact our This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. to discuss how we can help.

We also have our own show in Stamford, to the north of Peterborough in May each year and we are also closely involved with BRM's annual Peterborough National Festival of Railway Modelling.

library Our very own library area within the test track. What better way to read while watching the trains go by. Donations to the growing library are always welcome.

Venue and Facilities

cup of teaAfter 17 years in our 'home', our long term friend and landlord needs our premises back for use in his expanding farm. We believe we have found a new venue. Much of the old club room, including our test track has been cleared in readiness for a move. Plans are well in hand and will, we hope, give us bigger and better facilities than ever before. The timing of all this sadly depends on circumstances well beyond our control. We're hoping to complete the move before the end of the year.
