Safeguarding our hobby for the future
We have a lively and thriving Junior Group, for youngsters from School Year 6 upwards which meets on Thursday evenings 6pm to 7.30pm or so. A lot of the junior members bring their own trains to run on our club test track, and on our layouts when they are available in the clubroom. They are currently updating our shunting layout “The Nook” and planning a new layout for construction in due course.
Junior members pay approximately half the adult membership fee, and a second youngster from the same household pays about half of that.
There are workshops and practical sessions from time to time, and junior members play a full part in our annual Stamford Model Railway Show as well exhibiting alongside adult members at exhibitions across the region and the country, and taking out The Nook and our small N Gauge layout “Wipton” with adult supervision.
