Our TT120 gauge layout “Holcombe Beach”, built as a project for British Railway Modelling, is on display this weekend at the National Festival of Railway Modelling, at the National Exhibition Centre, Birmingham. Thanks are due to the “ground crew” who prepared it back at the clubroom, and especially to those making the trip to the NEC to erect it, operate it and meet the public and bring it safely home.
Holcombe Beach has been an interesting project in many ways and we have learnt a lot from building it to BRM’s specification. A simple layout, it depicts a familiar stretch of the West of England main line between Dawlish and Teignmouth (whose station is just out of sight, under the bridges at the end of the layout) with the familiar red cliffs.
